1:1 Teachers Aide

YAI is hiring a full-time 1:1 Teachers Aide in Manhattan who will offer focused individual support that helps a student succeed academically and personally each day.

The Opportunity

This full-time 1:1 Teachers Aide role based in Manhattan gives you the chance to work side by side with one learner, reinforcing classroom lessons and encouraging progress under the guidance of YAI educators. You will become part of a caring team dedicated to daily educational support in a vibrant Manhattan setting, ideal for candidates seeking meaningful hands-on work with students.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide consistent one-on-one academic assistance so the student can complete assignments and stay engaged during lessons
• Help the student manage transitions between classrooms, activities, and daily routines smoothly and safely
• Encourage positive behavior, social interaction, and focus through calm redirection and modeling
• Prepare simple learning materials and organize workspace items at the direction of the classroom teacher
• Monitor the student’s well-being and alert staff promptly to any concerns that arise
• Collaborate with teachers and other team members to carry out the student’s daily learning plan
• Maintain a safe, orderly environment that supports concentration and inclusion

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Genuine interest in supporting children and a reliable, patient approach to learning challenges
• Clear communication skills for working with students, teachers, and families
• Ability to follow instructions, keep confidentiality, and adapt to changing classroom needs
• Physical capacity to move with the student and participate in activities throughout the school day
• Prior experience assisting children or working in an educational setting is helpful but not required
