IT Security Engineer

Metecs seeks an experienced IT Security Engineer to lead security operations and infrastructure protection in Nassau Bay, Harris County. In this full-time position, you'll oversee security programs and provide hands-on administration across Windows, Linux, and cloud environments for a specialized engineering company serving aerospace, defense, and commercial markets.

Position Summary

This IT Security Engineer role combines strategic security program management with day-to-day infrastructure administration. You'll take ownership of security operations at Metecs, designing and implementing controls, policies, and procedures while maintaining systems across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate balances program-level planning with technical execution and thrives in hands-on security work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage security operations, including policy development, control implementation, and security program oversight
• Administer secure access, user management, and system hardening across Windows, Linux, and cloud infrastructure
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, security audits, and threat analysis to identify and address risks
• Perform day-to-day security administration tasks and infrastructure support
• Develop security documentation, incident response procedures, and business continuity plans
• Monitor systems and networks for security threats and anomalies
• Champion security awareness and best practices throughout the organization

Requirements

• Proven experience in IT security operations, systems administration, or cybersecurity
• Strong technical expertise in Windows and Linux server management
• Experience with cloud security and infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar platforms)
• Knowledge of security tools, threat detection, and incident response procedures
• Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, compliance standards, and industry best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
