10a Labs, located in Washington, D.C., is seeking a full-time Machine Learning Engineer to advance AI safety through rigorous testing and evaluation. You'll work with frontier AI systems and contribute to our mission of delivering adversarial testing, model evaluation, and threat intelligence to leading AI organizations worldwide.
Position Summary
As a Machine Learning Engineer at 10a Labs, you'll strengthen our technical capabilities in AI safety and threat assessment. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of machine learning, security, and AI evaluation—developing and refining the systems that enable our clients to understand and mitigate risks in advanced AI deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain machine learning pipelines and evaluation frameworks that assess AI model behavior and safety.
- Collaborate with safety and security teams to create comprehensive testing strategies for frontier AI systems.
- Develop automated tools and methodologies for adversarial testing and red teaming exercises.
- Analyze model outputs, interpret evaluation results, and communicate technical findings to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the research and development of new techniques in AI threat assessment and risk quantification.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, and Python or equivalent systems languages.
- Experience building and deploying ML models in production or research environments.
- Familiarity with common ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar).
- Solid understanding of data pipelines, model evaluation, and performance metrics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Experience in AI safety, threat modeling, or security is a plus.
