FT Accountant

Cochise College is hiring a full-time Accountant to join its finance team in Sierra Bonita, Cochise County. This role is central to the college's financial operations and regulatory compliance mandate.

The Opportunity

As Accountant at Cochise College, you'll contribute directly to the institution's financial management and stewardship. Your Responsibilities

• Manage year-end closing procedures and account reconciliations
• Prepare financial statements and reports aligned with audit and regulatory requirements
• Compile financial data and supporting documentation for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (ACFR)
• Ensure all accounting practices and disclosures conform to Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements
• Coordinate with external auditors and support audit planning and execution
• Maintain accurate financial records and internal documentation systems
• Contribute to budget monitoring, variance analysis, and financial planning activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional accounting experience in a governmental or public sector environment
• Working knowledge of GASB standards and public institution accounting principles
• Proficiency with accounting software systems and financial databases
• Strong analytical and organizational capabilities
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritize workload effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaborative team orientation
