Bldg Engineer

CBRE is seeking a Building Engineer to join our team in Ames, Story County, supporting the complete operation and maintenance of our client facilities. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work with one of the world's leading real estate services and investment management companies, where your technical expertise directly impacts client satisfaction and building performance.

About the Role

As a Building Engineer at CBRE, you'll be the technical backbone of our facilities operations team. Working within our Global Workplace Solutions division, you'll maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the systems that keep our clients' properties running efficiently. Your role is to ensure facilities meet the highest standards of operation, safety, and performance while supporting our account management team's client-centric approach to real estate solutions.

What You'll Do

• Operate and maintain all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and automated controls
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and respond promptly to emergency repairs
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed
• Conduct facility inspections and document system performance and asset conditions
• Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Monitor and optimize building efficiency to support operational cost management
• Communicate with clients and internal teams regarding facility status and maintenance needs
• Support facility improvements and capital upgrades in coordination with management

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Building Engineer or in a similar facilities maintenance role
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical infrastructure, and building equipment
• Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
• Excellent communication and customer service orientation
• Valid driver's license and willingness to respond to emergencies
• Relevant certifications such as EPA, HVAC, or electrical licenses are preferred
