About the Role
As Development Director, you'll oversee all aspects of fundraising and revenue generation for our Lubbock operations. You'll develop and execute comprehensive development strategies, cultivate major donor relationships, manage grant opportunities, and lead fundraising initiatives that sustain our programs and reach in the community. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on engagement with supporters at all giving levels.
What You'll Do
- Create and implement annual fundraising plans aligned with organizational priorities and community health needs
- Identify, cultivate, and steward major donor prospects through personal relationship-building and compelling storytelling
- Manage grant research, writing, and reporting to diversify funding sources
- Organize and execute fundraising events and campaigns that engage donors and community members
- Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses, foundations, and civic organizations
- Lead and mentor development staff while managing departmental operations and budgets
- Report on fundraising progress, donor metrics, and program impact to leadership
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of development or fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization
- Proven track record managing major donor relationships and growing revenue
- Strong strategic planning and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience with grant management and corporate or foundation fundraising
- Leadership capability and comfort building and developing teams
- Deep commitment to American Heart Association's mission and values
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
