Principal Engineer, Harness & Interconnect

RTX Corporation is hiring a Principal Engineer, Harness & Interconnect in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona to lead the design and engineering of critical electrical harness and interconnect systems for advanced aerospace and defense applications.

About the Role

As Principal Engineer, Harness & Interconnect, you'll take ownership of complex electrical system architectures, driving innovation in harness design, interconnect technologies, and system integration. This is an onsite, full-time position in Tucson where you'll establish technical direction and mentor engineering teams across interconnect systems.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and technical development of electrical harness assemblies and interconnect solutions for aerospace platforms
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, specifications, and best practices for harness and interconnect systems
• Conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations to drive continuous improvement in system reliability and manufacturability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, procurement, and program management
• Mentor junior engineers and establish technical excellence within the harness engineering discipline
• Review and approve critical engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation
• Interface with customers and internal stakeholders on technical issues and system performance

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
• Substantial professional experience in aerospace, defense, or related industries with background in electrical harness, interconnect, or similar complex systems engineering
• Expertise in electrical systems design, materials science, environmental qualification, and manufacturing processes
• Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities with track record of leading technical teams
• Knowledge of aerospace and defense standards including MIL-SPEC, AS9100, and relevant IPC standards
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
• Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance required prior to start date
• U.S. citizenship required
