FirstEnergy Group is hiring a Transmission Specialist in Transmission Engineering at our Akron, Ohio headquarters. This is a full-time position focused on supporting our transmission infrastructure and operational excellence across one of the nation's largest electric utility networks.
About the Role
As a Transmission Specialist in our Transmission Engineering department, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and optimizing the transmission systems that deliver power reliably to millions of customers across our service area. Based at our Akron headquarters, you'll contribute to projects and initiatives that strengthen our grid infrastructure and ensure consistent energy delivery to residential and commercial consumers throughout our region.
What You'll Do
- Support transmission engineering projects and system design efforts
- Conduct analysis and troubleshooting of transmission equipment and systems
- Assist in equipment testing, maintenance planning, and operational assessments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges
- Contribute to safety and reliability initiatives across the transmission network
- Support compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
- Technical background in electrical engineering or a related discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of power systems and transmission engineering principles
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Commitment to safety and operational excellence
- Professional licenses or certifications valued (PE, EIT, or equivalent experience)
