Join SBHU's research community as a Research Scientist, based in Stony Brook, Suffolk County. We are seeking a doctoral-level investigator to lead original research projects and contribute to our institution's mission of scientific discovery in the biological sciences. This is a full-time position.
About the Role
In this position, you will design and conduct independent investigations, lead laboratory work, and advance knowledge through rigorous scientific inquiry. You'll work alongside faculty collaborators, mentor emerging researchers, and communicate your findings to the scientific community through publication and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute original research protocols and experiments
- Conduct data analysis and interpret results to generate new insights
- Author manuscripts and prepare work for peer-reviewed publication
- Build collaborative relationships with researchers within and beyond our institution
- Supervise and train laboratory team members and students
- Present research at seminars, conferences, and other scientific forums
- Participate in grant preparation and research proposal development
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (PhD or foreign equivalent) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline
- Three or more years of research experience in biological sciences
- Minimum one year of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent advanced research work following completion of your doctorate
- Publication history demonstrating peer-reviewed research contributions
- Strong skills in experimental design, laboratory techniques, and data analysis
- Excellent communication and scientific writing proficiency
- Capacity for both independent and team-based research endeavors
