About the Role

As Associate General Counsel, Claims Administration and Litigation Management, you'll provide critical legal leadership in managing the health system's claims and litigation portfolio. This is a full-time position based in Mineola that combines proactive legal strategy with day-to-day case management, supporting NYU Langone's commitment to protecting patient care quality while managing legal risks effectively.

What You'll Do

• Oversee claims administration processes, including intake, evaluation, and resolution of medical malpractice and general liability claims
• Direct litigation strategy and coordinate with external counsel on active lawsuits affecting the health system
• Manage insurance coverage issues, policy compliance, and carrier communications for claims and litigation matters
• Advise clinical and administrative leadership on risk mitigation and legal implications of operational decisions
• Develop policies and procedures for claims handling that align with healthcare law and regulatory requirements
• Participate in cross-functional risk management initiatives to reduce legal exposure
• Draft and review legal documents related to claims administration and dispute resolution

What We're Looking For

• JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in New York
• 3+ years of experience in healthcare law, claims administration, or healthcare litigation
• Strong understanding of medical malpractice law, insurance coverage, and healthcare regulatory compliance
• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with attention to detail
• Experience working collaboratively with clinical staff, risk management, and insurance partners
