About the Role
As a Lateral Police Officer with the Lynnwood Police Department, you'll perform essential general police work, contributing to public safety through proactive crime prevention, thorough investigation, and consistent enforcement of laws. Working under the direct supervision of your shift duty sergeant, you'll engage in diverse policing activities that directly impact the communities you serve.
What You'll Do
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service across your assigned patrol area
- Conduct thorough investigations into reported crimes and gather evidence
- Maintain detailed incident and arrest reports with accuracy and completeness
- Prevent criminal activity through visible patrol and community engagement
- Enforce traffic laws and vehicle codes when observed
- Testify in court proceedings and at administrative hearings as required
- Build relationships with community members to enhance public trust and safety
- Comply with all departmental policies and applicable state and local laws
What We're Looking For
- Valid law enforcement certification and verifiable experience as a police officer
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Washington State residency or ability to establish residency
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and drug screening
- Sound physical and mental health to perform demanding duties safely
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to ethical conduct and professional standards
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
