Post-Doc Trainee

UNC-Chapel Hill is seeking full-time postdoctoral trainees to join the School of Nursing in Chapel Hill, Orange County. This position provides research training in intervention mapping and community-engaged approaches to developing and testing evidence-based strategies that address health disparities in chronic illness prevention and management.

About the Role

As a postdoctoral trainee within UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Nursing, you will develop expertise in translational research, implementation science, and health equity. This position offers structured training in designing and evaluating theory-driven clinical interventions and evidence-based implementation frameworks that target root causes of health disparities affecting populations managing or at risk for chronic disease.

What You'll Do

• Participate in intervention mapping activities to systematically develop clinical interventions grounded in behavioral and implementation theory
• Engage with community partners to co-design and refine research approaches that reflect real-world clinical and community contexts
• Contribute to the design and execution of research studies evaluating implementation strategies for chronic illness prevention and management
• Analyze and interpret data related to health disparities and clinical outcomes in underserved populations
• Assist in preparing manuscripts and grant proposals for submission to peer-reviewed journals and funding agencies

What We're Looking For

• A doctoral degree (PhD or DNP) in nursing, public health, psychology, health services research, or a closely related discipline
• Strong foundation in research methodology and experience with quantitative or qualitative data analysis
• Demonstrated interest in chronic illness, implementation science, health disparities, or community-based research
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with community stakeholders
