Hope Services is hiring a full-time Companion in Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County to support individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs. About the Role
As a Companion at Hope Services, you'll provide direct support and personal assistance to help clients maintain independence, build skills, and engage in their community. This is hands-on, relational work where your presence and patience are as important as your actions. You'll work full-time in Santa Cruz, developing genuine connections with the people you support.
What You'll Do
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as hygiene, meals, and household tasks
- Accompany clients to appointments, community outings, and social activities
- Support skill-building in areas like budgeting, problem-solving, and social interaction
- Maintain clear communication with supervisors and interdisciplinary team members
- Document client progress and activities in accordance with agency standards
- Respond with compassion and adaptability to individual needs and preferences
What We're Looking For
- Genuine enthusiasm for supporting others and commitment to their wellbeing
- Patience, reliability, and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members
- Willingness to learn and adapt to client-centered practices
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred)
- Ability to pass background check and obtain any required clearances
