Role Summary:
The Accounting Supervisor is a key leader responsible for overseeing daily financial operations, including AP, AR, and high-volume corporate accounts. This role ensures the integrity of our financial data through robust internal controls, streamlined month-end processes, and the development of clear procedural documentation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review tax filings and regulatory submissions, including GST, and fuel taxes
- Oversee the full AP/AR cycles, ensuring timely collections of outstanding receivables and punctual payment of vendor obligations
- Analyze cash flow visibility by monitoring bank balances and reviewing/signing off on monthly bank reconciliations
- Coach and mentor staff by communicating clear job expectations and providing technical guidance on complex accounting entries
- Lead the month-end close process by analyzing variances, monitoring revenue/expenses, and performing thorough reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
- Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities for automation, documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs), and implementing internal control enhancements
- Support audit requirements by preparing necessary schedules, providing documentation, and assisting in the completion of the year-end processes
- Coordinate team coverage by assigning and scheduling tasks, monitoring workloads, and facilitating cross-training to ensure zero gaps in service
Must haves:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience in an accounting leadership role an asset
- Exceptional leadership abilities
- IT literate – fully conversant in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel)
- A strong sense of accountability, honesty, and responsibility in all tasks, supporting the trust that we have built with passengers, partners, and communities
- Enthusiasm for contributing to our unique mission, whether that’s through direct customer service, operational excellence, or behind-the-scenes support
- Must be a legally entitled to work in Canada
