About the Role
As Executive Director of Legacy Foundations, you'll oversee all aspects of the foundation's operations, governance, and philanthropic strategy. This position drives major gifts, manages grantmaking, and cultivates relationships with trustees, donors, and community partners to maximize the foundation's impact on health equity and access in the Portland region.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with Legacy Health's mission and community health priorities
- Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, board members, and community stakeholders across the Portland Metro area
- Lead fundraising campaigns and donor cultivation initiatives to grow philanthropic support
- Manage the foundation's grantmaking process, including evaluation, selection, and impact reporting
- Oversee board governance, trustee communications, and coordination of board activities
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and fiduciary requirements for foundation operations
- Collaborate with Legacy Health departments at multiple locations to identify funding priorities and demonstrate grant outcomes
- Manage foundation operations, budgets, and staffing as appropriate
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a foundation executive or nonprofit leader with demonstrated success in major gift fundraising and board relations
- Strong understanding of foundation governance, grantmaking practices, and philanthropic strategy
- Track record of cultivating donors and closing significant gifts
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strategic thinking and ability to align foundation priorities with organizational mission
- Experience in healthcare philanthropy or community health preferred
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management or related field preferred
