What You'll Do

  • Design and implement multi‑year organizing plans targeting retail and restaurant workers across Los Angeles County.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of organizers and interns, fostering leadership development.
  • Build and maintain coalitions with community groups, faith‑based organizations, and labor unions.
  • Lead campaign tactics such as direct actions, petition drives, and public hearings to win policy changes.
  • Analyze workplace data, track metrics, and report progress to funders and the board of directors.
  • Manage the department budget, oversee grant compliance, and coordinate fundraising efforts.
  • Represent KIWA in media interviews, public forums, and meetings with elected officials.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in labor, community, or immigrant rights organizing.
  • Demonstrated success leading campaigns that improved wages, working conditions, or legal protections for workers.
  • Strong ability to communicate in English; Korean language proficiency is a strong plus.
  • Expertise in retail or restaurant industry dynamics and knowledge of relevant labor laws.
  • Skill in supervising diverse staff, managing budgets, and evaluating program outcomes.
  • Commitment to multiracial, intersectional justice and experience working with Latino and Korean communities.
  • Excellent public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills for building relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for campaign activities.
