LSCG is seeking a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our construction team in Fort Myers, Lee County on a full‑time basis.
About the Role
As a Directional Drill Operator you will guide underground boring equipment along planned paths to install telecommunications conduit while avoiding existing utilities and ensuring precise placement of fiber pathways.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate directional drilling rigs and related support gear in accordance with project specifications and safety protocols.
- Interpret construction drawings, locate buried utilities, and adjust bore trajectories as conditions change.
- Conduct daily equipment checks, perform routine maintenance, and address mechanical issues to maintain operational readiness.
- Communicate clearly with crew members, supervisors, and utility locators to keep each bore on schedule and on track.
- Follow OSHA standards, company safety policies, and environmental guidelines throughout all work activities.
- Record drilling metrics such as depth, angle, and progress, and prepare concise reports for project management.
What We're Looking For
- Hands‑on experience operating directional drilling equipment in utility or broadband construction projects.
- Solid grasp of soil mechanics, bore planning, and techniques for avoiding underground obstacles.
- Ability to read civil and site plans, locate subsurface services, and make real‑time adjustments to the drill path.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record and willingness to travel to various job sites across Lee County.
- A strong commitment to safety, reliability, and collaborative teamwork in an outdoor, fast‑paced setting.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for performing routine upkeep and minor repairs on drilling rigs.
