Reading Truck is seeking a Part-Time Gatorhyde Sprayer for the 2nd shift at its facility in Reading, Berks County.
About the Role
In this position you will prepare and apply protective coatings to truck bodies using specialized powder‑coat spray equipment. Working the afternoon shift, you help ensure that each vehicle receives a uniform, durable finish that meets the company’s quality standards while maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
What You'll Do
- Mix Gatorhyde, enamels, lacquers or other coatings to the exact color, viscosity and consistency specified by work orders.
- Operate and maintain powder‑coat spray guns, adjusting pressure and fluid flow for an even application on truck bodies.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment, and keep the work area clean and organized according to 5S principles.
- Inspect finished surfaces for defects such as runs, sags or thin spots, and touch‑up as needed to meet quality specifications.
- Document batch numbers, material usage and equipment settings in production logs.
- Perform routine maintenance on spray equipment, including cleaning nozzles, checking filters and replenishing consumables.
What We're Looking For
- Experience with industrial spray equipment or a willingness to learn powder‑coat techniques.
- Ability to read mixing instructions, technical data sheets and work order specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing consistent, high‑quality finishes.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and proper PPE usage for coating operations.
- Good hand‑eye coordination and the physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
- Basic math skills for measuring and mixing materials accurately.
- Reliability and the ability to work the scheduled 2nd‑shift hours.
