Car Guys is seeking a Dealership Controller to join their team in a Full‑Time position based in the United States.
About the Role
The Dealership Controller oversees the financial operations of the dealership, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective cash‑flow management.
What You'll Do
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash‑flow reports.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing and collections.
- Oversee payroll processing and maintain accurate employee compensation records.
- Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for dealership departments.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, dealership accounting policies, and internal controls.
- Coordinate with external auditors and support tax preparation activities.
- Utilize dealer management systems (DMS) and accounting software to streamline financial workflows.
- Provide financial insight to dealership leadership to support strategic decision‑making.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA is preferred.
- Proven experience in financial controller or senior accounting roles, preferably within an automotive dealership or similar retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and dealership accounting practices.
- Proficiency with DMS platforms (e.g., CDK, Reynolds and Reynolds) and ERP/accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to translate financial data into actionable recommendations.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
