NH3, Chemigation Inspector – Agricultural Specialist or Agricultural Advisor

The State of Minnesota is hiring an NH3 and Chemigation Inspector for its Minnesota Department of Agriculture office in Duluth. In this full-time position, you'll conduct regulatory inspections and provide technical guidance to ensure safe, compliant chemical application practices across the region.

About the Role

This role combines field inspection work with advisory responsibilities, placing you at the center of agricultural chemical safety and environmental compliance. You'll evaluate anhydrous ammonia facilities and chemigation systems, document your findings, and help agricultural operators maintain state and federal standards. Your work protects both environmental integrity and farming productivity throughout the service area.

What You'll Do

• Inspect NH3 storage facilities and chemigation systems to verify regulatory compliance
• Evaluate chemical handling and application practices at agricultural operations
• Prepare thorough compliance reports and documentation from field assessments
• Advise farmers and agricultural professionals on safe chemical application and best practices
• Address complaints and inquiries regarding ammonia handling and chemigation operations
• Work with state agencies and agricultural stakeholders to maintain industry standards
• Travel regularly throughout Saint Louis County to conduct inspections
