Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District seeks an experienced and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Nicollet Middle School. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support students with diverse learning needs in a forward-thinking district dedicated to removing barriers and creating pathways for all learners to thrive.
About the Role
As a Special Education Teacher and Resource Teacher, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with individualized education programs (IEPs). Working collaboratively with general education staff, families, and support teams, you'll help students build academic skills, independence, and confidence while navigating middle school years.
What You'll Do
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with student IEPs
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet evolving learning needs
- Coordinate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching opportunities
- Maintain detailed documentation and progress reports for IEP meetings and parent communication
- Work with special education support staff, counselors, and outside agencies as needed
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that builds students' academic and social-emotional skills
What We're Looking For
- Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or related field
- Demonstrated experience working with middle school students with diverse disabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and colleagues
- Knowledge of special education law (IDEA, Section 504) and IEP development
- Commitment to supporting all learners and fostering an inclusive school culture
