About the Role
As a Construction Code Representative specializing in electrical inspection, you'll conduct comprehensive field inspections of electrical installations, systems, and equipment to verify compliance with state and local electrical codes. You'll work independently throughout Crow Wing County and surrounding areas, serving as the state's frontline authority on electrical code enforcement.
What You'll Do
- Perform detailed field inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installations at various stages of construction
- Review electrical plans, specifications, and permit applications for code compliance
- Issue inspection reports, violation notices, and permits based on code findings
- Ensure contractors and property owners understand and correct code deficiencies
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation
- Respond to code complaints and safety concerns from the public
- Work with contractors, electricians, and construction professionals to achieve compliance
- Provide guidance on electrical code requirements and interpretations
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of current National Electrical Code (NEC) and Minnesota electrical code standards
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to electrical safety
- Professional communication skills with diverse stakeholders
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and job site environments
