Field Application Scientist, Downstream Bioprocessing (MA)

About the Role

As a Field Application Scientist in Downstream Bioprocessing, you will serve as a technical expert and trusted partner to biopharmaceutical customers throughout New England and beyond. You'll provide hands-on support for bioprocess chromatography, purification, and downstream processing applications, translating customer challenges into solutions that accelerate their development timelines and improve manufacturing efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Conduct on-site process development, method development, and technical troubleshooting for downstream bioprocessing workflows
• Operate and demonstrate bioprocessing instrumentation and separation technologies in both laboratory and production environments
• Collaborate with customer R&D and manufacturing teams to design experiments, analyze data, and optimize purification strategies
• Provide technical training and application support to drive adoption of bioprocess solutions and best practices
• Document results and present findings to support customer decision-making and regulatory submissions
• Work standard Monday through Friday business hours in our Plainville facility

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in life sciences, bioengineering, chemistry, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with downstream bioprocessing, chromatography, or protein purification
• Strong technical foundation in bioprocess principles, separation science, and analytical methods
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and communicate solutions clearly to diverse audiences
• Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment with established protocols
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; comfort traveling to customer sites as needed
