Scott County Schools is hiring a full-time Biology Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a 10-month position serving students across the district.
About the Role
As a Biology Teacher in Scott County, you'll design and deliver engaging science instruction to secondary students, building foundational knowledge in cellular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and human body systems. You'll create a classroom environment that encourages scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on learning through labs, discussions, and real-world applications.
What You'll Do
- Develop and teach comprehensive biology curricula aligned with state standards and district guidelines
- Conduct laboratory experiments and demonstrations that reinforce biological concepts and scientific methods
- Assess student understanding through formative and summative assessments, and adjust instruction accordingly
- Foster student engagement and participation in classroom activities, group projects, and scientific investigations
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues about academic progress and classroom expectations
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance data
- Collaborate with science department staff on curriculum development and professional learning initiatives
- Supervise students in laboratory and classroom settings to ensure safety and productive learning
What We're Looking For
- Valid teaching certification or credential in Biology or Life Sciences for your state
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Secondary Education, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of biology content and ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Experience creating inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments
- Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to student growth and continuous professional development
Compensation and Schedule
This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $46,500–$75,255 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The 10-month schedule aligns with the school calendar.
