BC Forward is hiring a Firmware Software Engineer IV to join our team in Redmond, Washington. This 12-month contract position, with a secondary location option in Sunnyvale, California, offers $65–$70 per hour.
About the Role
As a Firmware Software Engineer IV, you'll lead the design, development, and deployment of embedded software solutions for Fortune 500 and government clients. This senior-level engineering role requires deep expertise in firmware architecture and the ability to guide technical teams through complex system implementations.
What You'll Do
- Design and architect firmware solutions that meet rigorous performance and reliability standards
- Develop embedded software for diverse hardware platforms and device types
- Diagnose, test, and resolve firmware defects; optimize system performance
- Partner with hardware engineers, systems architects, and program managers throughout the development lifecycle
- Review code and mentor junior engineers on best practices and technical standards
- Create and maintain comprehensive firmware documentation and architectural specifications
- Lead client engagement activities to ensure successful system deployment and operation
What We're Looking For
- Extensive firmware and embedded systems development experience at a senior level
- Deep technical proficiency in C/C++ and assembly language programming
- Solid knowledge of microcontroller architecture, hardware interfaces, and device drivers
- Hands-on experience with debugging methodologies, RTOS platforms, and performance tuning
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Exceptional communication skills for explaining technical topics to diverse audiences
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
