The Town of Vienna Parks & Recreation Department is hiring a part-time custodian for the Vienna Community Center in Tysons, Fairfax County. This role offers $15.50 per hour and the opportunity to maintain a vital community gathering space.
About the Role
As a part-time custodian, you'll maintain the Vienna Community Center and its surrounding grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents of all ages. You'll be responsible for daily cleaning operations, facility upkeep, and supporting the programs and events that make Vienna's community spaces vibrant and functional.
What You'll Do
- Clean and sanitize interior spaces including restrooms, lobbies, hallways, multipurpose rooms, and recreational areas
- Perform floor care tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Maintain restroom facilities with proper supplies, sanitation, and hygiene standards
- Prepare and reset spaces for community events, classes, activities, and programs
- Remove trash and waste throughout the facility and grounds
- Identify and report maintenance issues, equipment problems, and safety hazards
- Follow cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and facility guidelines
- Work independently and maintain a professional demeanor with staff and visitors
What We're Looking For
- Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience
- Proficiency with cleaning equipment and commercial cleaning products
- Dependable, punctual, and organized approach to work
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and perform repetitive tasks
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail-oriented work habits
- Ability to work without constant supervision and manage time effectively
- Customer-service oriented mindset and respect for community spaces
