Rowan County Schools is seeking a Girls' Soccer Assistant Coach to support our high school soccer program in Morehead. This part-time position reports to the school principal and offers an opportunity to mentor young athletes while assisting in the development and execution of our competitive girls' soccer program.
About the Role
As a Girls' Soccer Assistant Coach at Rowan County Schools, you'll work alongside the head coach to deliver quality instruction, competitive training, and positive student-athlete experiences. This position is based in Morehead, North Carolina and is part-time.
What You'll Do
- Support the head coach in organizing and leading daily practice sessions
- Teach soccer fundamentals, tactics, positioning, and conditioning to student-athletes
- Assist with game preparation, strategy development, and team motivation
- Plan and implement season-long athletic programming aligned with program goals
- Conduct small-group training focused on individual skill development and athletic growth
- Monitor player safety, health, and adherence to program standards
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to the coaching staff
- Support compliance, documentation, and administrative responsibilities under principal oversight
What We're Looking For
- Strong knowledge of girls' soccer fundamentals, tactics, and competitive play
- Excellent communication and coaching ability with high school athletes
- Proven ability to work collaboratively under the direction of a head coach
- Genuine commitment to player development, safety, and sportsmanship
- Flexibility to attend practices, games, and athletic events throughout the season
- Prior soccer competition or coaching experience preferred
