About the Role
As Director & Actuary in Personal Lines Pricing, you will oversee the pricing strategy and actuarial functions for The Hartford's personal insurance portfolio. This senior role combines deep technical knowledge with strategic leadership, positioning you to shape product decisions and business outcomes in a competitive market.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development and implementation of pricing strategies for personal lines insurance products
- Build and maintain actuarial pricing models informed by claims experience and market dynamics
- Conduct rate analyses and support regulatory filing processes
- Supervise actuarial and pricing teams in executing strategic pricing initiatives
- Monitor competitive positioning and market trends affecting personal insurance pricing
- Partner with underwriting, product, and claims teams to integrate pricing with business strategy
- Ensure pricing models deliver both competitive rates and sustainable profitability
- Maintain compliance with state and federal insurance regulations
What We're Looking For
- Current actuarial designation (FSA, ASA, or equivalent)
- Significant experience in insurance pricing and actuarial analysis, particularly in personal lines
- Demonstrated leadership ability managing teams and driving complex projects
- Expertise in personal insurance products, rating methodologies, and loss analysis
- Thorough knowledge of insurance regulatory compliance and requirements
- Strong analytical and statistical modeling skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
