Montana State University is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper II or III in Bozeman, Gallatin County to maintain and enhance our campus grounds. Working with the Grounds Manager, you'll operate specialized equipment and perform skilled landscape and facility maintenance across our beautiful campus year-round.
About the Role
This full-time position is essential to the university's grounds management program. You'll use advanced equipment and professional techniques to maintain campus landscapes, turf areas, roadways, and outdoor spaces. Your work ensures our facilities remain safe, attractive, and functional for students, faculty, staff, and visitors throughout the year.
What You'll Do
- Manage turf health through mowing, fertilization, aeration, irrigation, and seasonal treatments
- Provide expert care for campus trees and shrubs, including installation, pruning, and removal
- Maintain campus roads, sidewalks, and walkways to preserve safety and appearance
- Plan and execute landscape construction and improvement projects
- Operate grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, compactors, loaders, and snow removal machinery
- Manage waste collection and proper disposal systems across campus
- Perform snow and ice removal operations to ensure safe campus access during winter
- Take initiative on grounds needs and coordinate with the Grounds Manager on project planning
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or campus or facility grounds maintenance
- Ability to operate specialized grounds equipment and machinery safely and effectively
- Working knowledge of turf, tree, and shrub care and landscaping principles
- Physical capability to perform sustained outdoor manual work in all weather conditions
- Reliability and strong attention to detail in maintaining professional grounds standards
- Capacity to work independently under general supervision
- Valid driver's license
