Custodian – Prospective Elementary School Campus

Join Edinburg CISD as a full-time Custodian supporting a prospective elementary school campus in Edinburg, Texas. This essential role keeps our school facilities clean, safe, and welcoming for students and staff throughout the school year.

About the Role

As a Custodian with Edinburg CISD's Maintenance & Operations Department, you'll be responsible for maintaining the daily cleanliness and appearance of school facilities. Working across a prospective elementary campus, you'll execute routine cleaning and maintenance procedures that directly impact the health and safety of our learning environment. You'll report to the school principal and work a full-time schedule spanning 261 days of the work year.

What You'll Do

• Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas
• Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and appropriate floor care treatments
• Clean and sanitize restroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and surfaces
• Empty trash containers and manage waste removal throughout the campus
• Spot-clean high-traffic areas and address spills or debris promptly
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools safely
• Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure consistency
• Report maintenance issues or facility repairs to school leadership
• Support special cleaning needs for events and programs at the campus

What We're Looking For

• Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean facilities
• Reliability and strong work ethic with consistent attendance
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment and chemical handling
• Communication skills to coordinate with school staff
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is beneficial

Compensation & Employment Details

This is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position with a salary range of $15.25 to $19.32 per hour. You'll work a 261-day schedule aligned with the school year.
