Join Richmond City Public Schools as a Part-Time Adult Education Lead Instructor, where you'll teach adult learners pursuing their GED® and foundational academic skills at the Richmond Technical Center.
About the Role
Richmond City Public Schools is hiring an experienced Adult Education Lead Instructor to guide adult learners through GED® preparation and Adult Basic Education (ABE) coursework. Working part-time at the Richmond Technical Center, you'll report to the HSE Specialist and deliver engaging instruction tailored to working adults and career-focused students returning to education.
What You'll Do
- Teach GED® test preparation and Adult Basic Education content to diverse adult learners
- Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with state standards and adult learning principles
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning goals
- Provide one-on-one academic support and test-readiness coaching
- Maintain a productive classroom environment that supports adult learner success
- Collaborate with colleagues and support services to remove barriers to completion
- Monitor attendance, participation, and student achievement data
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED® credential required
- Proven experience teaching adult learners or GED/ABE curriculum (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and varied educational backgrounds
- Comfort with standing, sitting, walking throughout the workday and light lifting up to 10 pounds
- Commitment to helping adults achieve educational and career goals
- Organized, detail-oriented approach to classroom management and student tracking
