Senior Specialist, Safety & Environment

MSD is hiring a Senior Specialist, Safety & Environment at our West Point, Montgomery County facility to lead environmental compliance and regulatory oversight. In this full-time role, you'll deliver technical expertise and guidance to our site operations teams, ensuring our pharmaceutical facility meets all applicable environmental regulations and industry standards.

About the Role

The Senior Specialist, Safety & Environment at our West Point facility is responsible for maintaining environmental compliance across all operations. You'll bring deep technical knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental requirements specific to pharmaceutical manufacturing, providing strategic guidance and practical support to ensure site operations meet regulatory obligations.

What You'll Do

• Advise site operations on compliance with federal environmental regulations, state requirements, and local ordinances
• Develop and maintain environmental policies and procedures for the West Point facility
• Conduct compliance assessments, audits, and regulatory monitoring activities
• Support environmental permit applications, submissions, and regulatory agency interactions
• Guide incident response and corrective action protocols
• Collaborate with operations and other departments to integrate environmental compliance into planning
• Monitor regulatory changes and update site practices accordingly

What We're Looking For

• Extensive professional experience in environmental compliance, ideally within pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Deep knowledge of EPA regulations, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, and state environmental laws
• Technical background in environmental science, engineering, or occupational health and safety
• Strong ability to translate complex regulations into operational guidance
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across all organizational levels
• Problem-solving mindset and strong analytical capabilities
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field preferred
