Pearson is seeking an Advanced Specialist, Learning Scientist to join our assessment innovation team in Douglas, Juneau. In this full-time position, you'll apply learning science expertise to design, evaluate, and enhance school assessment systems that drive meaningful student learning outcomes.
About the Role
Within our Measurement and Learning division, you'll advance the science and practice of educational assessment. Your work will center on translating learning science research into tangible improvements to our assessment and learning experience systems—helping schools and students benefit from more effective, intelligent testing and learning tools.
What You'll Do
- Conduct and synthesize learning science research to inform assessment design and pedagogical improvements
- Evaluate the effectiveness and validity of school assessment systems using evidence-based methods
- Collaborate with product, data science, and educational teams to enhance learning experience systems
- Analyze assessment data and research findings to identify design improvements and innovations
- Develop recommendations grounded in psychometric principles and educational research
- Document findings and best practices to guide continuous system refinement
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree or higher in learning science, educational psychology, psychometrics, or related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in assessment design, measurement theory, or learning science research
- Strong knowledge of educational standards, assessment practices, and student learning science
- Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research or data-driven analysis
- Excellent ability to communicate complex research findings to non-specialist audiences
- Collaborative mindset with ability to influence across functions and drive evidence-based decisions
