About the Role

As a high school English teacher, you'll lead engaging classroom instruction in reading, writing, critical thinking, and oral communication. What You'll Do

• Teach English Language Arts courses to high school students, emphasizing reading comprehension, literary analysis, and composition skills
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards and district curriculum guidelines
• Create assessments that measure student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Facilitate discussions around complex texts, diverse perspectives, and critical thinking
• Provide constructive feedback on student writing and speaking assignments
• Collaborate with colleagues to support student achievement and school initiatives
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom expectations
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners

What We're Looking For

• Valid New Mexico teaching credential in English Language Arts or related field
• Strong command of literature, composition, grammar, and communication pedagogy
• Ability to design engaging lessons that differentiate instruction for diverse learners
• Experience working with high school students (preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
