About the Role
As Lead Data Scientist at Fusemachines, you'll architect end-to-end machine learning pipelines, mentor data science teams, and translate business requirements into production AI systems. You'll partner with enterprise clients to identify high-impact AI opportunities and guide implementations of cutting-edge models and algorithms that deliver measurable business value.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable machine learning models for enterprise AI applications, with focus on IBM Watson technologies and cloud-native architectures
- Lead cross-functional teams through model development lifecycle—from exploratory analysis and feature engineering to deployment and monitoring
- Translate client business objectives into data science strategies; identify use cases where AI creates competitive advantage
- Develop and optimize algorithms for natural language processing, machine learning, and predictive analytics
- Build data pipelines and infrastructure to support model training, testing, and production inference at scale
- Mentor junior data scientists and establish best practices for model governance, reproducibility, and documentation
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and executive leadership
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of professional data science experience, with 3+ years in a lead or senior individual contributor role
- Strong foundation in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data engineering
- Production-level expertise in Python, SQL, and at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Proven experience with IBM Watson or similar enterprise AI platforms is a plus
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence without authority
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Passion for solving real-world problems using data and a commitment to continuous learning
