Navajo Tribal Utility Authority is seeking two experienced Wastewater Treatment Superintendents for full-time exempt positions in Fort Defiance. Lead critical wastewater infrastructure operations serving the Navajo Nation in this superintendent role.
About the Role
As Wastewater Treatment Superintendent, you'll oversee facility operations, direct treatment staff, manage equipment systems, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. This leadership position requires hands-on oversight of wastewater treatment processes and personnel to deliver safe, reliable service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise wastewater treatment facility operations and direct staff activities
- Monitor treatment processes and water quality to maintain environmental compliance
- Manage facility equipment, systems, and preventative maintenance schedules
- Prepare operational reports and regulatory documentation for environmental agencies
- Manage facility budgets and coordinate resource allocation
- Enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Train and develop operations team members
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum seven years of experience in water or wastewater operations
- Grade III Wastewater Treatment Certification from Arizona Department of Environmental Quality or equivalent—required
- Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Certification from Arizona Department of Environmental Quality or equivalent—preferred
- Proven supervisory and team leadership experience
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards
