About the Role
As an Environmental Consultant with the Department of Environmental Protection, you will play a vital part in developing and implementing environmental policies, conducting technical assessments, and supporting regulatory compliance across the state. This role combines field work, data analysis, and stakeholder coordination to advance Florida's environmental protection mission.
What You'll Do
- Conduct environmental assessments, inspections, and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations
- Prepare technical reports, environmental impact analyses, and regulatory documentation
- Investigate environmental concerns and violations, gathering data to support agency decisions
- Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and the public on environmental projects and initiatives
- Provide technical guidance on environmental standards and best practices to stakeholders
- Support permit reviews, environmental permits, and license applications
- Participate in field operations involving potential hazardous conditions
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, geology, biology, chemistry, or related field
- Knowledge of Florida environmental laws, regulations, and protection standards
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the service area
- Commitment to public service and environmental stewardship
Compensation
This position offers an annual salary of $60,000, plus $3,120 annually in hazardous duty pay. Full-time state employment benefits are included.
