YAI is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join our team in Glen Cove and across Northern Nassau County. This is a part-time position supporting individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community participation and daily living.
About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional, you'll work one-on-one and in group settings with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), providing individualized support tailored to their specific needs and goals. We have positions available at our Glen Cove, Port Washington, Manhasset, and Williston Park locations.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct support with daily living activities as appropriate to each individual's needs
- Encourage and facilitate community participation and social engagement
- Support the development and practice of functional and adaptive skills
- Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and the care team
- Respect autonomy, dignity, and personal choice in all interactions
- Maintain safe and healthy environments
- Document activities and observations accurately
