Project Manager – Roadway

HNTB is hiring a full-time Project Manager – Roadway to join its Tampa, Hillsborough County office and lead complex transportation infrastructure projects across Florida and beyond.

About the Role

HNTB's Tampa team is engaged in some of the most technically demanding roadway design projects in Florida, serving state and municipal clients committed to advancing their communities' infrastructure. In this role, you will take ownership of roadway projects end to end — from scope development and team coordination through final delivery — while building lasting client relationships and contributing to HNTB's regional reputation for engineering excellence.

What You'll Do

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of roadway design projects, keeping scope, schedule, and budget on track
• Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for clients, including FDOT and local municipalities in the Tampa Bay area
• Coordinate across internal discipline teams and subconsultants to produce cohesive, high-quality design packages
• Review and ensure compliance of engineering plans, specifications, and reports with FDOT standards and applicable regulations
• Monitor project financials, prepare progress reports, and proactively identify and resolve schedule or budget risks
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical growth within the Tampa roadway team
• Support business development activities including proposal preparation and client presentations

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or eligibility and intent to obtain licensure
• Demonstrated experience managing roadway or highway design projects in a consulting engineering environment
• Familiarity with FDOT design standards, processes, and project delivery methods
• Proficiency with roadway design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or similar platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and stakeholders
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
