Microsoft Purview and Data Governance Senior Consultant

Deloitte is hiring a full-time Microsoft Purview and Data Governance Senior Consultant to join its Cyber practice in Uptown, Marion County — a client-facing role at the intersection of information security, data governance, and regulatory compliance.

About the Role

Deloitte's Cyber team partners with organizations navigating an increasingly complex threat and compliance landscape. As a Microsoft Purview and Data Governance Senior Consultant, you will lead engagements that help clients take control of their data — classifying, protecting, and governing it in ways that satisfy regulators, reduce risk, and strengthen overall cyber resilience. You will serve as a trusted advisor, translating business requirements into actionable Microsoft Purview architectures and policies.

What You'll Do

• Design and deploy Microsoft Purview solutions covering data governance, information protection, data lifecycle management, and compliance management
• Develop sensitivity labels, data loss prevention (DLP) policies, and data classification frameworks tailored to each client's regulatory environment
• Advise clients on aligning Microsoft Purview capabilities with compliance obligations such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and industry-specific frameworks
• Lead client workshops, requirements-gathering sessions, and stakeholder presentations to define governance roadmaps and success criteria
• Collaborate with client IT, legal, and security teams to ensure solutions integrate with existing Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
• Document architectures, runbooks, and governance policies to support long-term client enablement
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to Deloitte's internal knowledge base on Microsoft Purview and data governance best practices

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated hands-on experience implementing Microsoft Purview (including Compliance Manager, Information Protection, and Data Map/Catalog capabilities)
• Solid understanding of data governance principles, metadata management, and information lifecycle strategies
• Familiarity with US and global data privacy regulations and their practical compliance requirements
• Experience in a consulting, advisory, or professional services environment with direct client interaction
• Strong communication skills — able to present technical concepts clearly to both technical teams and executive stakeholders
• Working knowledge of the broader Microsoft 365 and Azure security and compliance ecosystem
• Relevant Microsoft certifications (such as SC-400 or DP-900) are a plus
