2026/27 High School Teacher, Physics, Engineering

Leander Independent School District is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable part-time High School Physics and Engineering Teacher to join the faculty at Early College High School in the Leander, Texas area for the 2026–27 academic year.

About the Role

This part-time, classroom-based position begins August 3, 2026, and follows a 187-day instructional calendar. As a Physics and Engineering educator at the high school level, you will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that prepares students for college and career pathways in STEM fields. Early College High School students pursue dual-credit opportunities, so your work directly shapes their readiness for university-level coursework.

What You'll Do

• Plan and deliver engaging Physics and Engineering lessons aligned to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for high school science and CTE pathways
• Design hands-on labs, engineering design challenges, and project-based learning experiences that connect theory to real-world applications
• Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, then use data to inform instructional decisions
• Maintain a safe and well-organized lab environment that meets district and state safety standards
• Collaborate with fellow STEM educators and counselors to support students navigating dual-credit and college-readiness programs
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and campus leadership regarding academic progress and classroom expectations
• Participate in professional development, campus meetings, and any required state or district training

What We're Looking For

• Valid Texas teaching certificate with an appropriate endorsement in Physics, Physical Science, or Engineering (or eligibility to obtain one)
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related STEM discipline
• Strong command of physics principles, engineering design processes, and relevant laboratory techniques
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including advanced and dual-credit students
• Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, high-expectation learning environment
• Prior high school teaching experience is a plus, though candidates new to the classroom with strong content backgrounds are encouraged to apply

Compensation

Salary is placed on the Leander ISD Teacher Salary Scale, commensurate with verified years of experience and education level, in accordance with district pay guidelines.
