Baylor College of Medicine is hiring a full-time Pediatrics - Neurology NRI (Instructor) to join an interdisciplinary research team in Houston, Harris County, advancing human disease models for neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
About the Role
As an Instructor within the Pediatrics - Neurology NRI program, you will help design and carry out genome engineering strategies that fuel translational discovery. This on-site Houston position places you at the center of a collaborative effort to build next-generation human models of disease and move laboratory findings toward real clinical impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and implement gene editing and genome engineering approaches across multiple experimental platforms, including human induced pluripotent stem cell systems.
- Develop innovative human disease models that support research into neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions.
- Drive translational projects that connect bench science with potential therapeutic applications.
- Partner with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians to plan, execute, and interpret experiments.
- Contribute to the scientific direction, rigor, and reproducibility of ongoing studies.
Qualifications
- Strong background in gene editing, genome engineering, or a closely related molecular discipline.
- Hands-on experience with human cell-based platforms, such as induced pluripotent stem cells.
- A highly motivated, innovative approach to solving complex scientific problems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Interest in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disease research and its translational potential.
