UNIT DIRECTOR

ESFM, the corporate facilities management arm of Compass Group, North America, is seeking a results-driven Unit Director to lead operations in Newark, New Castle County. This full-time, on-site leadership role puts you at the center of a high-performing facilities team backed by a recognized industry leader.

About the Role

As Unit Director, you will own the day-to-day success of an ESFM account, balancing client relationships, financial performance, and team development. ESFM is the integrated facilities management division of Compass Group USA, a Gold-level Corporate Sustaining Partner of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and a Platinum Corporate Member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). The division self-performs the majority of its facilities services, giving leaders direct control over quality and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct all operational, financial, and service activities for the assigned unit in Newark.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, nurturing a trusted, long-term partnership.
• Manage budgets, control costs, and drive profitability against established targets.
• Recruit, mentor, and lead front-line and supervisory staff to consistently high standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across all services.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and expand the scope of facilities services delivered.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in facilities management or a related operational field.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and profit-and-loss accountability.
• Excellent client-relationship and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain a productive team.
• Comfort working on-site full-time at the Newark, New Castle County location.

Compensation

• Salary range: $80,000 – $100,000 (Pay Grade 14).
• Additional bonus compensation available.
