San Bernardino County is hiring a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to deliver compassionate, hands-on care to the resident animals of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo in Big Bear, San Bernardino County.
About the Role
Working within the County's Special Districts division under Big Bear Park and Recreation, this Registered Veterinary Technician position supports the daily medical and husbandry needs of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. You'll play a central part in keeping the zoo's diverse collection healthy while contributing to its respected wildlife rehabilitation mission in San Bernardino County.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine and general animal care duties across the zoo's collection
- Support wildlife rehabilitation efforts for sick, injured, and orphaned animals
- Assist veterinary staff during physical examinations and health assessments
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments
- Help perform diagnostic procedures, including radiography (X-rays) and related imaging
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized treatment and care environment
Qualifications
- Active certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
- Practical experience providing direct animal care and clinical support
- Familiarity with administering medications and assisting with diagnostic imaging such as radiography
- Ability to work on-site in Big Bear and adapt to the demands of a zoo and wildlife rehabilitation setting
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare
