Amity Foundation is hiring a compassionate, motivated AOD Counselor I to join our in-prison treatment programs based out of Mount Vernon, Alabama. If you are driven to teach, learn, and support recovery within a respected Teaching and Therapeutic Community, this full-time role offers a meaningful way to make a difference.

About the Role

As an AOD Counselor I with Amity Foundation in Mount Vernon, Alabama, you will deliver alcohol and other drug (AOD) counseling services to incarcerated individuals within our correctional facility programs. This is a hands-on, on-site position that supports the recovery and rehabilitation of the inmate population while strengthening your own clinical training and professional experience in a therapeutic community setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group AOD counseling to participants in our in-prison treatment programs.
• Support inmates on their recovery journey using a teaching and therapeutic community model.
• Foster a respectful, encouraging environment that promotes learning, accountability, and personal growth.
• Collaborate with the program team to advance participant progress and program goals.
• Maintain accurate documentation in line with facility and organizational standards.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for helping others learn, heal, and rebuild their lives.
• Enthusiasm for working directly within a correctional or in-prison program environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and active-listening skills.
• Willingness to grow your counseling training and experience within a therapeutic community.
• Ability to work on-site full-time in Mount Vernon, Alabama.
