About the Role
As a Patient Observation Assistant, you will play a vital part in keeping patients safe and comfortable during their stay at Inova Mount Vernon (2501 Parkers Lane, Alexandria, VA 22306). This position centers on continuous, watchful monitoring of patients, ensuring their wellbeing throughout your shift. No prior experience is required — we provide what you need to succeed, so a willing, caring attitude matters most.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide constant, attentive observation of assigned patients to support their safety and comfort
- Promptly alert nursing and clinical staff to any changes in a patient's condition or behavior
- Remain present and engaged at the bedside throughout each shift
- Follow established care protocols and instructions from the healthcare team
- Help maintain a calm, secure, and supportive environment for patients
Qualifications
- No previous experience necessary — a willingness to learn is essential
- Reliable, dependable, and comfortable working overnight shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, days may vary)
- Strong attentiveness and the ability to stay focused for extended periods
- A caring, patient-first approach and good communication skills
- Availability for full-time or part-time schedules; additional shift details shared during the interview
