Freeman Regional Health Service, part of the Avera network, is hiring a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our collaborative care team in Freeman, Hutchinson County, South Dakota.

About the Role

This on-site laboratory position supports patient care at Freeman Regional Health Service, a growing and team-focused organization affiliated with Avera. As a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist in Freeman, SD, you will perform diagnostic testing that helps clinicians make confident, timely decisions. The schedule centers on day shifts running from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage as part of a regular, scheduled commitment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out clinical laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Verify, document, and report results promptly to support the care team.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and follow established quality control practices.
• Adhere to safety, compliance, and standard operating procedures throughout each shift.
• Participate in the rotating weekend, holiday, and night on-call rotation as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Background and credentialing appropriate to a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) role.
• Comfort working a primarily day-shift schedule with flexibility for rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage.
• Strong technical precision, dependability, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
• Willingness to work on-site in Freeman, South Dakota.
