Project Safety Manager

About the Role

As the Project Safety Manager based in Charlotte, you will own the day-to-day safety program across active construction sites, protecting crews who build the highways, bridges, mines, dams, rail lines, and other critical infrastructure that keep communities secure and supply chains running. This on-site role partners closely with project leadership to embed a culture where everyone goes home safe.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee site-specific safety plans for heavy civil and industrial projects in the Charlotte area.
• Conduct routine job-site inspections, hazard assessments, and audits to keep work aligned with OSHA and company standards.
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for field crews and subcontractors.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, document findings, and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to resolve safety concerns proactively.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reporting, and regulatory compliance documentation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing safety programs in heavy civil, industrial, or construction environments.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
• Strong communication and leadership skills to influence safe behavior at every level.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County.
• Relevant safety certifications are a plus.
