Youth Counselor – Overnights

VisionsHR is seeking a full-time Youth Counselor – Overnights at our Garrison, Putnam County facility to provide overnight care and support to youth ages 8–18 in our residential program.

About the Role

This full-time overnight position offers 35–40 hours per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 8:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. You'll be part of a dedicated team at Saint Basil Academy, a national not-for-profit residential care center serving children and families. The overnight shift is critical to our mission: you'll create a safe, supportive environment when residents are most vulnerable, ensuring their well-being through the night.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct residential care and supervision to youth ages 8–18 during overnight hours
• Monitor resident safety, welfare, and conduct throughout the night shift
• Support residents' daily routines, including bedtime preparation and morning transitions
• Respond with compassion to emotional and behavioral concerns
• Maintain clear, respectful communication with day staff and the clinical team
• Enforce facility policies and procedures while maintaining a calm, nurturing environment
• Document observations and incidents according to program requirements

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work overnight hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (8 p.m.–7:30 a.m.)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy, and genuine care for children and youth
• Physical and emotional stamina for overnight residential work
• Willingness to follow program policies and collaborate with a team
• Background check required
