Join us in making a difference
The Core Data Engineering team is the guardian of trivago’s most critical data — Session, Search, Bids, Clickouts, Conversion, Revenue, and Invoicing. Our mission is to ensure the quality and reliability of that core data, making it a single source of truth that enables business and technical agility, compliance, and growth.
As a Working Student QA Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of that mission. You’ll work alongside experienced Data Engineers and Data Scientists to validate data pipelines, build automated checks, and help the team catch quality issues before they become business problems. At trivago, high standards and genuine support go hand in hand — you’ll be challenged to grow, and you’ll have the team behind you every step of the way. If you’re analytical, curious, and ready to get hands-on with real production data from day one, we’d love to hear from you.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Develop and implement solutions to automate data extraction, increasing the coverage and efficiency of our quality tooling.
- Evaluate and synthesise information from a variety of sources provided by different advertisers.
- Support the team in retrieving information — both manually and by creating scripts to automate repetitive processes.
- Monitor systems and validate the accuracy and reliability of retrieved data.
- Enable and maintain business and technical data quality checks on data assets built by the Data Engineering team.
- Perform manual and automated tests on data assets to ensure the highest possible data quality.
What you’ll need to thrive:
- A data-driven mindset — you’re comfortable working with data to draw conclusions and make informed decisions.
- Basic knowledge of at least one programming language and a foundational understanding of SQL and databases.
- Currently enrolled at a German university (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung required).
- A genuine learning mindset — you approach challenges with curiosity, actively seek feedback, and are always looking for ways to grow.
- A performance mindset — you set ambitious goals for yourself and have the determination to follow through and deliver.
- An open and curious attitude toward AI tools and automation — you’re excited to explore how AI can enhance the way you work and grow alongside evolving technologies.
Stand out with:
- Experience with BI or data visualisation tools such as Looker.
- Willingness to learn scripting and automation — even if you’re just getting started.
What you will learn:
- Gain insight into how a data-driven company functions internally and how decisions are shaped by data.
- Get hands-on experience with cutting-edge data extraction and validation systems in a live production environment.
- Collaborate closely with experienced Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists.
- Build practical data analysis and automation skills by working on real projects with direct business impact, while developing best practices for maintaining the highest data quality in mission-critical datasets.
- Grow your experience working within a dynamic, international team.
Not ticking every box? We still want to hear from you. Apply, tell us what motivates you, and you could be a great match—now or in the future. Your application does not need to include a photo.
